From idea to live website
A simple, transparent process designed to understand your business before building your website.
How working together happens
Steps 1 to 4 happen before you commit to the full project. You see a direction first, then decide.
Before you commit
-
Discover
We start with a conversation about your business. I learn about:
- Your business
- Services you offer
- Your target customers
- Your location
- Your goals for the website
- Your existing online presence
- Competitors, where relevant
-
Research
Before designing anything, I look at your business from a customer's point of view: what they need to know, what might make them hesitate, and what they need to do next, whether that's calling, booking, visiting or sending a message. This decides which pages and sections the website needs.
-
Personalised demo
Where appropriate, I can create a personalised website concept so you can see the direction before committing to the full project.
It's much easier to react to something real than to describe a website you haven't seen. You can open it on your own phone and show it to anyone whose opinion matters to you.

Feedback
You review the concept and tell me what works and what doesn't. We discuss:
- Content
- Sections
- Branding
- Features
- Changes
- Requirements
Once we agree on the direction and the scope, the project moves into development.
Building your website
-
Development
The approved direction is developed into the final website. Depending on the project, this includes:
- Responsive development
- Your content
- Forms
- Integrations you need
- SEO fundamentals
- Testing as I build
-
Testing
Before launch, the website is checked across devices and details:
- Mobile
- Tablet
- Desktop
- Links
- Forms
- Images
- Layout
- Performance
- Basic accessibility
Going live
-
Launch
The website is deployed to your domain and hosting. Launch can involve:
- Domain connection
- Hosting setup
- SSL certificate
- Final checks
- Website launch
If you already have hosting, I work with your existing provider where possible. Exactly which launch tasks I handle is agreed as part of the project scope.
-
Support
After launch I stay available for questions and small fixes. Anything beyond that runs through an optional maintenance arrangement, or is quoted as a separate request.
What's included is agreed in advance, so there's no open-ended commitment on either side.
How long does it take?
Timeline depends on project scope, content availability and required functionality. You'll get an estimate for your project before development starts.
What I'll need from you
You know your business best. These are the things only you can provide.
Logo
In the best quality you have. If you don't have one yet, tell me early.
Business information
What you do, where you are, opening hours and anything customers often ask.
Services
The services you offer, and prices if you want them shown.
Images
Photos of your space, team or work. Real photos build more trust than stock images.
Contact information
Phone, WhatsApp, email, address and social profiles you want linked.
Preferred content
Any wording, offers or details you want included in your own words.
Feedback
Honest comments on the demo and drafts, as clearly and quickly as you can.
Access details
Domain and hosting logins, if the website is launching on accounts you own.
The sooner content and feedback arrive, the more smoothly the project moves. If you don't have everything yet, that's fine: I'll tell you what's essential now and what can come later.
